INNER
HEBRIDEAN
SAILING RETREAT
EARLY BIRD SPECIAL
'SEA' your life from a different perspective
EXPLORING THE ISLANDS
Join me on this unique opportunity to sail the Inner Hebridean Islands off the west coast of Scotland. This experience will offer you a totally different perspective on life as you get to step away from land for a while. This sea-based adventure retreat means waking up to a different island view each morning before we set sail to explore new coves, sounds, islands, beaches and marine life that abounds in the area. The Inner Hebrides is renowned for their dramatic beauty and spiritual charm to help you disconnect from life and drop slowly into your heart. Learn to let the waves help you find the inner rhythm of your body and heart again.
I am so delighted to have put this together with you as it has been on my wish list to sail a magnificent tall ship exploring the neighboring islands around Iona ever since I moved their 3 years ago. To sleep with the powerful water beneath feels charming, healing and expansive - my Scottish dream coming true!
Our skippered sailing adventure retreat begins in the Scottish port town of Oban, the perfect location to explore the breathtakingly beautiful Hebrides under sail. With a pre-sail overnight in Oban, this means we will have met our fellow ship-mates before we embark and then pop some bubbles as we set sail to Mull. Having done this trip over 50 times when travelling back and forth to Iona- there is something breathtaking about setting sail leaving Oban behind ….embracing the islands and all the ancient stories they hold.
We will experience island hopping, coastal exploration, remote anchorages, and sleepy harbour villages. Visiting islands rich in ancient history, vibrant Celtic culture, and enjoy abundant wildlife watching opportunities.
The fully crewed tall ship offers en-suite cabins and has plenty of deck space for activities like some quiet reflective journaling, meditation or breathwork. The teak saloon is a welcome refuge for communal conversations, scrumptious dining and relaxing.
This sailing adventure will make you pinch yourself and remind you why it’s amazing to be alive and the privilege of soaking this all up!

OUR HOME AT SEA : THE BLUE CLIPPER TALL SHIP
Guest berths: 12 Rig in 6 luxury Twin bunks ensuite
Built in Sweden in 1991, tall ship Blue Clipper is an impressive three-masted gaff rig schooner. With a clipper bow, original teak deck and elegant stern, she mixes a traditional tall ship feel with a relatively modern build giving guests an authentic experience with all the mod cons.

She has spent many years sailing all over the world and currently spends her summers sailing Scotland and the Hebrides, her autumn months heading south to Spain and Portugal, then setting sail across the Atlantic for some winter sun in the Caribbean. Originally owned by the Brandy company Hennessy and named ‘Spirit of Hennessey, she appeared in many TV programmes and commercials before being privately bought in the late 90’s.
On deck, she boasts ample space for her guests to become fully immersed in hands-on sailing, heaving the ropes, hoisting the sails, learning ropes skills, and even taking the helm. She has 3 kayaks and 3 paddle boards for guest use while on anchor so you can explore even further inshore.
A spacious saloon, wheelhouse and galley also sit at deck level, while below decks have been well-considered with six spacious ensuite cabins. All cabins have full-size bunks, a small desk, a porthole for natural light and heating/air conditioning.
To sleep with the powerful water beneath feels charming, healing and expansive
WHAT TO EXPECT!
Waking up moored in a different magical place every morning. Followed by coffee at sunrise and an optional ocean dip, a hearty breakfast sets us up before we set sail for our next destination. The expert crew will take wonderful care of all our needs…AND there is the opportunity to learn the ropes and get stuck in – all hands on deck if you wish. If you love taking part, doing some heaving of ropes and sails – you can do some exercise to make space for the next delicious meal. Or grab one of the kayaks or SUP (Stand up Paddle) for a quick morning exploration.
We sail for a couple of hours every day before we take the tenders ashore and explore our next island.

Exactly which islands we explore during your tall ship sailing holiday depends entirely on the wind and tides. Once we have boarded, our skipper will have the latest weather forecast and will have a better idea of what we can expect from our holiday. Blue Clipper’s crew and skipper have been sailing in the Hebrides for a number of years, so they are all well-versed in the sailing areas and know all the best spots off the beaten track.

Hebrides, Scotland
The Hebrides offers some of the UK’s most breath-taking and fascinating sailing grounds. One of our most popular sailing holiday destinations, the coasts and islands that make up the West Coast of Scotland offer so much variation for our boats and guests that you will quickly see why our guests return year after year. Think remote anchorages where mountains run straight into the sea, miles of atmospheric landscapes, secret coves and uninhabited islands for walking trails ashore.
Hebridean Sailing Highlights - Iona
The inner Hebrides alone are home to over 70 islands, both inhabited and uninhabited. Offering miles of coastline to shore and swathes of sea to sail, exploring this area by boat is the easiest and best way to see the Hebrides.
The Isle of Mull will likely be your first stop. One of the larger inhabited islands in the Hebrides, Mull is renowned for its abundant wildlife. From dolphins, whales and sea eagles to endless walking trails and secluded anchorages, you could spend a week alone just exploring this beautiful island.
One of our favourite spots in the inner Hebrides and Kate’s former home, Iona boasts ultimate tranquillity, blue lagoons and sandy beaches. At only 1.5 x 3 miles, it’s a lovely place to anchor and walk ashore. Keep your eyes peeled for oystercatchers, sandpipers, redshanks, plovers, curlews and greylag geese. The endangered corncrake also inhabits the island.
The Treshnish Isles
The Treshnish Isles are a small cluster of islands and skerries nestled off the West coast of Mull. An important area for marine animals and breeding seabirds, the islands are part of a Special Area of Conservation. The island of Lunga is home to a large puffin colony, where you can sit ashore within metres of the friendly-faced creatures. The island of Staffa is home to the famous geological wonder of Fingal’s cave, where guests can take the tender to get off and explore the impressive basalt columns.
Coll and Tiree
Tiree is known as the Sunshine Isle or ‘Hawaii of the North’ and boasts some of the highest recordings of sunshine in the UK with idyllic white sand beaches and turquoise water. Neighbouring Coll is more rugged, with sandy coves and no soul in sight. It is also known as a “dark sky park” as it has no street light pollution, has some of the darkest skies in Europe, and is perfect for star watching.
The Small Isles
Depending on the wind direction, another choice for island hopping and sailing in the Hebrides is the archipelago of the Small Isles consisting of Rum, Canna, Eigg and Muck. The Small Isles offer landscapes from high basalt cliffs and dramatic volcanic landscapes to rocky shorelines and sandy beaches. Each island boasts a different personality and a multitude of wildlife spotting opportunities, from Golden eagles to red deer and hardy wild ponies on Rum.

What’s certain is that you need your eyes peeled and binoculars handy at all times to soak up all the beauty !

THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT LIFE ON BOARD BLUE CLIPPER
Sailing with tall ship Blue Clipper is certainly an enjoyable, hands-on experience and guests are encouraged to get involved with all aspects of sailing this magnificent tall ship.
From hoisting the sails to taking the helm, the friendly and knowledgeable crew always shows you the ropes. Part of the beauty of sailing with such a magnificent vessel is the opportunity to get involved in a safe and supported environment! The permanent crew are all professionally trained, so as much as guest involvement is encouraged if you just want to sit back and take in the view or are concerned about your physical ability to hoist ropes – there are plenty of other boat jobs such as coiling ropes, preparing lines and keeping watch!

Blue Clipper has two kayaks and paddleboards on board, which guests are welcome to use to explore the nooks and crannies of the coast! There is no extra charge for this and buoyancy vests are also provided.
On standard coastal sailings, Blue Clipper will spend a few hours sailing before making time to explore ashore. Blue Clipper does not run any watch systems on her coastal sailing voyages.
WHAT ABOUT THE DREADED MIDGES?
Midges are at their active from June - end of August in the couple of hours leading up to sunset. They DON’T travel off of land so you will still be able to sit on deck and enjoy a sundowner! We do love this!
